Exhilarating exhibitions.
Our designers, Tanya, Sandra and Leanne are feeling inspired after a trip to Paris earlier in the month where they visited two interior design events, Maison & Objet and the AD Intérieurs exhibition. Always on the lookout for inspiration and new interior trends to feature in our images, this years visit didn’t disappoint.
Spectacular style.
A few notable trends spotted at the exhibitions this year;
- Arches, columns, curved walls and curved sofas with classical elements being used in a contemporary way, in both set design and as room dividers
- Rich velvet in bold colours
- Lantern style pendant lights
- Rich pink and plum colour palettes alongside olive green, mustard, blush pink and terracotta colours
- Dark, moody colour palette combinations of deep greens, pinks, black and deep mustard
- Recycled plastics and used in unusual ways, such as corrugated backdrops and hanging room dividers
- Both dried flower arrangements and oversized floral arrangements
- Woven furniture and lighting mixed with tropical plants
- Wicker and Japanese inspired techniques
- Coloured glass
- Long drapes and curtains used as room dividers
Highlights.
Maison et Objet 2019
- Laura Gonzalez - Maison et Objet designer of the year. She gave an inspiring talk on her career and her style and created a pop up restaurant. The restaurant blended curved structures in bold colours mixed with large colourful prints on both walls and fabrics, lantern style pendants and oversized floral arrangements.
- Best Stand - HK Living used on trend colour schemes with layered electric propping, blending traditional and contemporary.
The AD Interieurs 2019
- Amazing work by Laura Gonzalez who created a calming Tuscan sanctuary with curved columns and ceiling details, a large wall mural and oversized pottery.
- Humbert and Poyet with the green marble bathtub, beautiful classical architectural elements, subtle lighting and a large brass cage installation.
- Tristan Auer created the Lagoon bar that was dark, moody and opulent, inspired by the Orient Express with large drapes and lantern style pendants on the ceiling.
