2020 Recap.

2020 has been a challenging but rewarding year in the Pikcells office, but one of our best in terms of growth and achievements. Like many businesses our team have been working from home as well as in the office, at a reduced capacity due to the Covid-19 constraints. This year we've worked on some fantastic projects, procured some amazing new tech and collected a few awards along the way.

Here's a summary of our favourite bits of 2020.

Pikcells brochures showcase 7

Showcase 7.

Back in January we released the seventh edition of our portfolio showcase showcasing some of the impressive projects we completed throughout 2019. The brochure features QR codes throughout giving access to online interactive projects, animations and TV adverts.

Pikcells Summer 2020 Showreel

Showreel.

Our summer 2020 showreel update features stacks of fascinating projects in both interactive and 3D visualisation. The team worked hard continuously at home and in the office this year, producing brand-new interactive 3D configurators, augmented reality tools, 360° tours and of course more astonishing CGI projects.

Awards.

Last year we picked up several awards for our interactive projects, 2020 has seen a continuation of this success, with a trio of gold wins in the 2020 w3 awards and a nomination in the finals of The Drum Roses Awards. Our interactive projects have also been recognised and shortlisted in the upcoming 2020 Yorkshire Property Awards which we're looking forward to attending in April.

Business news.

Earlier in the year we had the opportunity to share insights with the Corona Renderer team into our TV ad work, they published a detailed article describing how we used their rendering software to composite actors into a rendered kitchen scene.

The Fox Renderfarm team also interviewed us for a short article about our interactive projects following our success at the 2019 CGAwards.

2020 also saw another big business announcement with Marshalls commissioning interactive 3D projects with us, which we're looking to share more soon.

New tech + innovations.

Our experimentation with new 3D techniques and interactives has continued throughout the year with some really cool LAB projects.

We've designed and built our own high-resolution, portable photogrammetry rig which can 3D capture assets with astonishing amounts of detail in a matter of minutes. These assets can then be converted for use in just about any 3D application.

The interactive team have also testing out some of the latest WebGL innovations, incorporating them into our online 3D webstore.
